With cell phone and computer use on the rise for most of us, we often use acupuncture to treat patients with neck and upper back tension and arm and wrist pain. With this class, we wanted to offer patients another tool to help them reduce this pain or tension. Come spend 75 minutes with yoga teacher Megan Windeler doing chair yoga and walk out feeling more relaxed and less muscle tension. Another goal of this class is for attendees to learn yoga poses that they can do throughout their day, upon waking, at their job or just before bed. All you'll need to practice is a nice place to sit!

Here's Megan's description of the class and her bio:

Chair Yoga

The practice of Yoga is a means of stretching, strengthening and relaxing our bodies and minds; a way of growing more available to a feeling of ease and a greater availability to the here and now. The shapes of the physical practice of Yoga are known as Asana, which basically means to sit or dwell quietly in a particular position.' In this class we are going to take that definition of Asana to heart. Using the chair as either seat or support we will stretch the neck, shoulders, hips, back and legs and then take a well deserved rest. This class is open to all experience levels and modifications will be offered.

Megan’s classes are slow, strong and rich in alignment. She incorporates both movement and restorative shapes and teaches from the belief that Yoga should be simple, doable and as delicious as the perfect peach on a summer day. No matter how strong or flexible, old or young, fit or bent out of shape you define yourself to be there is room in her class for you. Her hope is that students leave each class feeling more at home in their bodies and more connected to their lives.

Megan completed the teacher training at the Yoga Tree in San Francisco in 2005 and has been teaching ever since. She continuously studies Pilates and alignment with Ruthie Whalborg Scott, Chris Black, Blane Ashby and Janine Fondelier at EHS Pilates, and finds great inspiration in her Yoga teaching from her fellow teachers at Bernal Yoga especially Katy Steadman, Traci Burleigh and Caroline Kelly.
